Vintage Pet Art Gifts - Dog, Cat, Horse Portraits and Classics > VINTAGE DOG ART > POKER DOGS: WATERLOO
POKER DOGS: WATERLOO: This painting, by C.M. Coolidge, is called "Waterloo." It's the second of two poker paintings that were meant to go together, telling the story of a poker game in two parts. The first is "A Bold Bluff," which is our previous design category.
Now we see the last part of the poker game. In this painting, called "Waterloo," the St. Bernard has just won the pot! It should be noted that this painting recently surpirsed the artword when it sold, along with the previously mentioned Coolidge painting, for $590,400. The day before the auction, the New York Sun wrote that it was predicted to bring in $30,000 to $50,000.
