Louis Wain was a prolific artist. He illustrated about one hundred children's books, and his work appeared in papers, journals, and magazines. He drew and painted both cats and dogs, but later concentrated soley on cats. This is a rare and humorous dog image from the earlier period in his life. I don't know the exact date of this work, but it was most likely made before 1905.
